RULES FOR MX COMPETITION
General Rules:
Entrants, riders and participants are required
to know and understand the rules and regulations that cover a Trophy Junkies sanctioned event.
It is the rider’s and parent/guardian’s responsibility to assess the safety aspects of the track facilities
and conditions and must assume the risks associated with competition.
1.)
The bike used to, or used in the first moto, must be used for all motos
in that event. Anyone riding under a fictitious name, or riding under another
name or in place of another rider shall be disqualified from all events entered and suspended from further competition. No one except officially entered riders may ride or practice on the motocross track
during the day’s event.
2.)
Before entrance to the track for competition/practice (on day of race),
a rider must have signed and completed a race entry form along with a release of liability before riding on the track. Anyone caught riding on the track before completing the proper required forms will
be asked to complete or will be banned from the event.
3.)
Helmets are required at all times.
All riders must wear the appropriate safety gear at all times. It is highly
recommended that all riders wear chest protectors, boots, goggles, and gloves. No
items shall be attached to helmets or motorcycles due to safety precautions.
4.)
Any verbal harassment to officials will be grounds for permanent disqualification. The rider is responsible for the conduct of his/hers parents, tuners, mechanics or
anyone else associated with him/her.
5.)
No refunds or rain checks will be made once racing begins.
6.)
No one is allowed to question, or contact score keepers after racing has
begun.
7.)
Any trophies or prizes not picked up by the end of the event will be forfeited.
8.)
A race may be stopped and restarted only due to a gate malfunction or riders
safety issue. Any restart shall be at the discretion of the race starter. A race shall be deemed final if 50% or more of the laps have been completed.
9.)
Any unsafe or intentional hitting, bumping or taking out or unsafe riding
that is deemed dangerous by the track official, will be grounds for disqualification.
Un-sportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.
10.)
Gate may not be saved
prior to the rider being called to the gate by the starter.
11.)
It is the rider’s
responsibility to be at the line for the start of his or her event. It is the
starter’s discretion to hold a start for no more than 2 minutes for a rider experiencing mechanical difficulty.
12.)
Mechanics must move 6
feet behind the bikes when the 30 second board goes up. At no time shall anyone
“push off” or otherwise assist a rider off the line. Age classes
are the age as of January 1st each calendar year. Original birth certificates
must be submitted to officials upon request for verification. Riders found to
be riding out of class will be disqualified.
13.)
Riders needing blocks at
the starting gate to help them balance their machine, are allowed to do so, but blocks need to be removed from starting
gate immediately after the first turn of the start.
14.) Registrants that are sponsored by TROPHY JUNKIES will receive free
race entry and will not be entitled to any payouts nor will they be able to receive prizes given away in any raffle. These
individuals are entitled to trophies/plaques for their placement in the class(es) they race in, if placement is in the top
30%.
Riders Advancement:
Beginner: 12 months or less racing experience. The beginner class is for those riders who are new to the sport of motocross. Riders
may not “drop down” to beginner when going up in a bike size class. If
you have rode in any beginner class on any size bike you may never be a beginner again.
A rider deemed by track officials to be riding above the class average may be moved to a higher class. A rider must ride the same classification on the 125cc and the 250cc.
A 125cc intermediate rider cannot ride 250cc Novice. You must be the same
classification on each size bike.
Any rider deemed to be riding in a class lower
that his or her ability will be moved up at the sole discretion of the track officials.
SANDBAGGING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
Technical and Safety Inspection:
1.
All bikes must be suitable for competition.
Any bike deemed by a track official to be unsafe for competition will not be allowed.
2.
All kickstands must be removed from bike.
3.
Brakes must be in good condition and capable of locking both front and rear
wheels.
4.
Throttles must be spring return and in proper working order.
5.
There must be a functional “kill button” on the left handlebar.
6.
Numbers must be of block style and clearly readable by the score keepers. Numbers must be placed on front and both side plates.
If your number is not readable you will not be scored.
Fuel:
Gasoline must
be petroleum based fuel or racing fuel.
Protest and Penalties:
All protests must be clearly stated in writing. The rider submitting the protest must sign all protests. A cash fee of $200.00 must accompany the signed protest if protesting a bike, and $100.00 if protesting
a rider, and delivered to the track officials before the start of the last moto that the protested rider is riding in. In the event of a bike protest, $100.00 will be awarded to the person winning the
protest and Trophy Junkies Race Promotions for the tear down fee will hold $100.00.
Trophy Junkies Race Promotions will not be responsible for the reassembly of the protested bike. Any bike found illegal for the class in which it is being raced, the rider will be disqualified from that
class event. Protest involving age or classification of a rider will be determined
by an investigation of the track officials and the race promoter official will determine action.

Yellow Flag Rules:
Absolutely no jumping or passing on a yellow flag. Any rider doing so will be docked a full lap of the race.
Pee Wee Specifications:
4 – 6: Max wheel size is Rims 10” and tires 2.75 x 10”.
7 - 8: Max wheel size 12” front, tire size 2.75” x 12”, and 10” rear.
Max engine displacement

Bike must meet
the following specifications and limits
1.
No shortened or lowered frames or shortened swing arms allowed to reduce
a non-conforming bike to meet Jr. Cycle specs.
2.
Modifications of the original frame and swing arm are allowed for the purpose
of safety.
3.
Must utilize the original engine type lower end and cylinder from the bike
model being modified.
4.
Change of head, clutch, carburetion, exhaust system, ignition, sprockets,
and suspensions is optional.
Mini-cycle Specifications:
1.
Max length for mini-cycles is 52” axle to axle centers
2.
Max front rim size 17” and minimum rear rim 14”
3.
Handlebar span cannot exceed 32”
4.
Max engine displacement in mini-cycles is 85cc
The engine can in no way exceed the 85cc
limit. No overbore or stroking allowed.
The class will be open to engine, frame, rim, and suspension modifications providing they do not exceed the mini-cycle
specifications listed in numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 above.
Supermini Specifications:
1.
Max rim size is 19” on front and maximum of 16” on rear
2.
Overall wheelbase cannot exceed 55” from axle to axle centers
3.
Max engine displacement including overbore's is 112cc
4.
The Supermini class is through age 16
5.
The 85cc small wheel minis may compete in the Supermini class and are allowed
to increase engine displacement within the 112cc limit.
Motorcycle Specifications:
The motorcycle classes for 125cc and 250cc
size motorcycles are for those size bikes only. A supermini may not ride in these classes.
All bikes competing in the motorcycle classes must be of original manufacturer (including a model number) by a nationally
known company. Special frames or frame modifications are allowed providing they
meet safety and technical regulations pertaining to the function and size relative to the frame they have replaced. All motorcycles must be raced in proper classes. Example:
You cannot race a 125cc in the 450cc class. No overbore or stroking allowed. Displacement for 125cc and 250cc two strokes cannot exceed factory manufactured size
for that cycle model.

Four stroke
cycles are allowed as follows:
250cc
are for the 250cc classes.

are for the 450cc classes.

Two-strokes ride in the 250cc class.
